I was trained an engineer and started my career as a design draughtsman at Heenan and Froude in Worcester. Most of my working life was spent in the packaging industry, specialising in automatic weighing equipment for confectionery, snack foods, hardware, frozen food and pharmaceuticals. This involved extensive travel around the world.

Later in life I took up fly fishing and qualified as a professional instructor and guide. I fish for salmon every week in the season and I have fished in many overseas locations including Alaska, Bermuda, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy and Ireland. I have written two published books on fly fishing.

I started my own company, in Shropshire, approximately 30 years ago and this developed into a successful business which is still growing to this day.

My main interests nowadays include drawing, painting and photography. I belong to a number of groups that share an interest in art, using all types of media and I regularly produce illustrations for fishing magazines.
